Reptilia was established in December 2006 in Vanderbijlpark. The company started off with a few reptiles like Snakes; Spiders and Bearded Dragons. Reptilia provided the basic food and accessories to the community’s animal lovers.

In May 2016 Reptilia was on the brink of closing its doors, when Willem van der Westhuizen saw the potential. Reptilia was then bought by Willem van der Westhuizen, whom has been the owner since May 2016.

Within the first year of new ownership, Reptilia moved to a larger building, where it expanded with a greater variety of reptiles and reptile products.

Reptilia has expanded to more exotic smaller animals such as Chinchillas; Ten-Recs Hedgehogs; African Pigmy Hedgehogs; Rabbits; Guinea Pigs; Skinny Pigs; Hamsters; Pot Belly pigs and Sugar Gliders. Also continuing the reptile legacy, Reptilia breeds with smaller Snakes; Lizards; Geckos and Bearded Dragons. Reptilia included some new reptiles such as Chameleons; Iguanas; and Monitor Lizards.

Reptilia has a breeding program for rats and mice which is used for feeding of our own animals as well as for our client’s animals. Reptilia custom builds cages for various types of animals on request. Reptilia buys products in bulk and this allows us to provide our clients with low cost food and accessories.

Reptilia also launched a cute petting zoo for the community mid-2018 with various farm animals. The idea was to give small children the opportunity to meat and interact with farm animals.

Reptilia had the opportunity to grow even further and bought a larger premise down the road in June 2019. There is covered and uncovered parking with better traffic flow. Reptilia is now wheelchair accessible as well.

The move to the bigger premises, allowed for more expansion. Reptilia now also has a larger selection of wooden cages as well as wire cages for small animals and birds. Products for reptiles, rodents, dogs, cats and birds are also available. The expansion also allowed for a bigger variety of reptiles and small animals such as: Ball Python morphs; Corn snakes; King snakes; Boa’s; Hog noses; Leopard Geckos; Fat Tail Geckos; Blizzard Geckos; Ground Day Geckos; Green Iguanas; Veiled Chameleons; Bearded Dragons and Crested Geckos. Our small animals include: Chinchillas; Ten-Recs Hedgehogs; African Pigmy Hedgehogs; Rabbits; Guinea Pigs; Skinny Pigs; Hamsters; Pot Belly pigs; Sugar Gliders and Hairless Rats.

Reptilia is extremely proud of our exhibition of reptiles. When visiting Reptilia, you have the opportunity to see reptiles that you will not see often anywhere else. This exhibition includes: White throated monitor lizard; Bosc monitor lizard; Juvenile and adult Green Iguanas; Madagascar Day Geckos; Tyger Reticulated python; Irian Jaya Carpet python; Brazilian Rainbow Boa; Veiled Chameleon and Sugar Gliders.

Reptilia’s Petting Zoo opened their barn doors to a few new residents. The community can visit the following farm animals at no charge: Guinea Pigs; Skinny Pigs; Chinchillas; Rabbits; Muscovy Ducks; Peafowls; Pot-Bellied pig; Brahma Chickens; Orpington Chickens and Greylag Geese.

Currently Reptilia is the only pet shop that supplies reptiles and small exotic animals as well as their foods and accessories. The community has become more exposed and interested in these types of animals which created a gap in the market. Reptilia has identified this gap and decided to make a change in the community by ensuring the best service to our clients.

Since Reptilia is a one of a kind pet shop Reptilia strives to make our clients happy by giving an excellent service. Reptilia attracts our clients on special holidays such as Easter and Christmas by promoting our stock and giving away special prizes. Our customers get great value for their money as they can be assured that Reptilia only sells the best quality products.
